All about the “M” word

Mar­ket­ing has not had a good rep, par­tic­u­larly among us cre­ative types, we like to see our­selves as above such mun­dane things as hav­ing to sell our work. How­ever, the hard truth is unless we are inde­pen­dently wealth, win the lot­tery or have a rich aunt… we have to mar­ket our work.

The hon­est truth is most of us are mar­ket­ing our stuff and we just don’t know it…every time we answer that ridicu­lous ques­tion of “so..what do you do?” we are mar­ket­ing. Every time we tell Aunt Martha about our new stuff we are mar­ket­ing. So here we’ll revisit some of the more gen­eral mar­ket­ing dis­cus­sions of 2009…
